Lilly
Endowment Inc. awards full-tuition scholarships to students from each county in
Indiana. These scholarships are awarded
through and administered by the network of community foundations throughout the
state.
ICI oversees the statewide administration of the Lilly Endowment
Community Scholarship Program.
These four-year tuition
scholarships are for undergraduate study in baccalaureate programs at any
four-year college or university in the state. Required
fees and an annual $800 book stipend are also included.
Deadlines and selection procedures, as well as the criteria used for
determining who is eligible for the scholarship, vary from county to county.
In all circumstances, applicants must be Indiana residents, must be
graduates of accredited Indiana high schools, and must use the scholarship to earn a
baccalaureate degree in Indiana. Students
currently in high school should ask their counselors about applications for the
program. Persons who have previously
graduated from high school but who are now interested in attending college
should contact their community foundation
to
determine whether they will be eligible based on local criteria.
During the first 11 years
of the program, 2,910 students have received Lilly Endowment Community
Scholarships. Scholars are attending 42 different colleges in the state of Indiana.
